Protecting your enterprise from cyber-threats requires constant vigilance
over your security infrastructure and critical information assets.
In addition to protecting your organization from attacks, many industry
regulations require organizations to monitor their security environment,
server logs and other information assets to ensure the integrity of
these systems. However, conducting effective security monitoring can
be a daunting task as it requires advanced technology, skilled security
experts and scalable processes.
The Digital Foundry can help your business to increase awareness
of potential issues, test your network against external penetration,
evaluate threats and develop a security strategy that minimises
risk.
Phishing
Phishing is an activity carried out through email, with a fraudulent
intention. Phishers (those who carry out these spoofing activities)
make use of some well known websites and send emails that looks
legitimate for the recipient. These perpetrators ask for sensitive
information such as user id, password, account information, etc.,
in order to update their user accounts at the relevant website.
The recipient, not knowing the intention of the mail and believing
that it has come from the trusted source, parts with the sensitive
data and thereby expose themselves into problems.
Malware
Malware is an abbreviation or "brevity code" for the
term "malicious software." The only safe assumption is
to treat all unwanted code as "malicious." While viruses
and worms are the most obvious forms of malware, "unwanted
code" describes a broad range of software that potentially
violates an organizations security policy. Malware is not
always dangerous, but it is intrusive and irritating.
There are a few weapons we all have that can prevent a lot of Malware
from ever coming into contact with your computer; things like: Knowledge,
Common sense, and Caution.
Spyware
Spyware is defined as a program that secretly monitors your actions
on your computer. Any data collection program that gathers information
about you and relays it to advertisers and/or other interested parties
falls under this Internet jargon.
Spyware is any software that employs a user's Internet connection
in the background (the so-called "backchannel") without
their knowledge or explicit permission.
